Antananarivo is the capital city of Madagascar, in the island’s Central Highlands. Overlooking the city, the Rova of Antananarivo palace complex was the center of the Merina kingdom from the 17th century. It features wooden houses and royal tombs. The pink baroque Andafiavaratra Palace sits in the nearby Haute Ville neighborhood. In the city center, heart-shaped Lake Anosy is ringed by jacaranda trees.
Andasibe-Mantadia National Park is a protected rainforest area in eastern Madagascar. The park includes the Analamazaotra Reserve, home to the large indri lemur, which is known for its distinctively loud song. The park’s rich biodiversity includes native species like the big Parson’s chameleon, plus rare orchids and ferns. Trail circuits weave through dense forest, past lakes and the Sacred Waterfall.
Nosy Boraha, or Île Sainte-Marie, is an island off Madagascar’s east coast. Near the main town of Ambodifotatra, the pirates’ cemetery includes graves marked with a skull and crossbones. Off the south coast, Île aux Nattes and Ilôts aux Sables are tiny islands with coral reefs and sea turtles. Antanandava Waterfall is surrounded by rainforest. On the east coast, traditional pirogue boats dot Baie d’Ampanihy’s lagoon.
Nosy Mangabe is a small island reserve located in Antongil Bay about 2 km offshore from the town of Maroantsetra in north-east Madagascar. it is accessible by small boat and is part of the larger Masoala National Park complex.
Masoala National Park, in northeast Madagascar, is the largest of the island's protected areas. Most of the park is situated in Sava Region and a part in Analanjirofo. Created in 1997, the park protects 2,300 square kilometres of rainforest and 100 square kilometres of marine parks
Nosy Be is an island off Madagascar’s northwestern coast. In the southeast, the forests of Lokobe Reserve shelter chameleons, geckos and frogs. The capital, known as Hell-Ville, has French colonial buildings and a covered market. Lemuria Land is home to a variety of lemurs, plus reptiles. Also in the park is a 19th-century distillery still used to extract essential oils from the native ylang-ylang tree.
Ranomafana is one of Madagascar’s best known and most important parks. Created in 1991 following the 1986 discovery of the golden bamboo lemur. The more distant areas where most tourist don’t go, have the best wild life experience.
The Kirindy Mitea National Park is a national park on the coast of the Mozambique Channel, in south-west Madagascar. The 72,200 hectares park contains many endemic animals and plants and claims to have the greatest density of primates in the world.
The Tsingy de Bemaraha National Park is a national park located in Melaky Region, northwest Madagascar. The national park centers on two geological formations: the Great Tsingy and the Little Tsingy.
Isalo National Park is a National Park in the Ihorombe Region of Madagascar. The park is known for its wide variety of terrain, including sandstone formations, deep canyons, a palm-lined oases, and grassland. It is often referred as the Jurassic Park.
Sainte Luce Reserve, in south-east Madagascar, is part of one of the last remaining intact coastal rainforests in the country. It forms part of the greater Sainte Luce rainforest, which is approximately 15 km long and varies from 100m to 700m wide.
Ifaty is located on the south west coastline ideal for a few days of beach relaxation. Offshore, a 60-mile long coral reef is a natural barrier to rough sea waves, creating coastal waters that are ideal for diving and snorkeling.

Anakao or Anokao is a coastal fishing town of about 3000 on the southwest coast of Madagascar, 35 kilometres south of Toliara. It is located southwest of Soalara.
Analamazaotra Special Reserve is a wildlife reserve of Madagascar, and is part of Andasibe-Mantadia National Park. The compact size of the reserve means that it is easy to explore on foot along a selection of walking trails that take between 2 and 6 hours to complete. The neighbouring Analamazaotra Forest Station is a local reforestation effort.
